Shoppers set to strike a pose as Prospect Shopping Centre marks its 40th Birthday with model search
05 July, 2014

Aspiring catwalk models are set to converge on a city shopping centre next week to strike a pose in a live fashion photography event being held in the mall.
Prospect Shopping Centre is hosting a diverse events line-up to celebrate its 40th Birthday in July, with the Face of Prospect 2014 event taking place on Saturday, July 5, between 12noon and 4pm.
The competition is being hosted by local style guru and presenter Dan Bryan, who shot to fame in the cult TV series Big Brother back in 2004. Male and female entrants aged over 16 are invited to attend, although those over the age of 14 can enter with a parental consent form available on the centre’s website.
All photographs taken on the day are set to be uploaded to the Prospect Shopping Centre website, where shoppers will be invited to vote for the two winners (one male and one female). The winners will feature as the Faces of Prospect for the duration of the centre’s birthday year, taking part in a range of promotional activities, as well as each winning a goodie bag full of prizes.
On the same day, a free Traditional Kids’ Party is taking place upstairs at strEAT foodcourt, between 2pm and 4pm and featuring children’s entertainment for all ages, including dancing, face painting and balloons – plus all meals served in the foodcourt across that time will come with a free slice of birthday cake!
Lee Appleton, centre manager at Prospect Shopping Centre, said: “We are really looking forward to an action-packed month full of celebrations to mark our 40th Birthday in July.
“The events have been designed to involve as many different age groups and interests as possible – Face of Prospect is an exciting new addition to our events calendar and we expect people to be queuing up to be photographed in our live photography studio.
“We hope both our regular shoppers and people from across the wider city will join us for what promises to be an entertaining month.”
In addition, the centre is hosting another Vintage Tea Dance on July 10th, between 3.30pm and 5pm, which will see local vintage singer Ruth Getz performing live in the strEAT foodcourt with shoppers encouraged to enjoy dancing and socializing, as well as a tea & scone.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, July 12th, a special edition of the centre’s regular market will take place in Prospect Street – UpMarket Summer Bash will run between 9am and 5pm, with a live Caribbean Steel Band performing between 12noon and 3pm, bringing a truly vibrant shopping experience to the city.
