Princes Quay in tune with expanding music business
Princes Quay in tune with expanding music business
16 January, 2013

Music retailer and promoter Gary Marks took the next step in his bid to be top of the shops with a trial relocation into Princes Quay Shopping Centre.

Gary ran his own haulage business before giving it up in 2010 to concentrate on the music. He launched GJM Music from a stall in Trinity Market and moved to King Street after only a few months.

In addition to selling CDs and new and second-hand vinyl, Gary also stocks t-shirts, posters and other merchandise. In addition he promotes gigs at Hessle Town Hall and organises record fairs at the Mercure Royal Hotel.

“I’d been looking for somewhere else for a while because I wanted to take the business to the next level and that meant relocating to somewhere busier,” he said.

“I’d been in touch with Princes Quay and they offered me a unit at the top of the escalators right outside Primark. It’s a great location and things have started very well so we’ll see how it goes from here.”

Tony Wilkes, Centre Manager for Princes Quay, added: “We will look at all types of flexible deals and work with businesses whether they are national concerns or local independent operators like Gary.

“We wanted to give Gary a taster of what it’s like running a business in Princes Quay and see if the extra footfall here can help him to grow his business.”

GJM Music can be contacted on 01482 218644 and via their website at www.gjm-music.co.uk.
