Nominate your favourite Hull city centre staff member or business with the HullBID Awards
24 January, 2014

SHOPPERS, workers and visitors are being asked to help pick the best Hull city centre has to offer.

HullBID and the Hull Daily Mail have teamed up to launch the Hull Business Improvement District Awards.

The awards will celebrate staff, companies and organisations across the city centre for the work they do with the public in helping enhance the city as a place to visit and do business in.

Individuals and employers can enter the awards, with nominations also open to the public.

The Hull Daily Mail is backing the Service with a Smile Award to recognise the most cheerful and welcoming staff in the city-centre.

The winner could come from a sandwich shop, museum or a solicitors office, any business in the city centre qualifies for entry.

The awards will conclude with a ceremony at Hull Truck Theatre on Thursday 8 May.

Kathryn Shillito, City Centre Manager for HullBID, said the awards have been developed as part of BID’s work to support businesses in the city centre and raise their profile.

Kathryn said: “We represent 760 businesses and we are well aware of the variety they offer, the high quality of service and the efforts they make towards improving the city centre.

“Their achievements do not always gain the recognition they deserve so we are launching the awards to raise awareness, to reward outstanding contributions and to encourage more businesses to get involved.”

Contributions to improved safety and cleanliness within the city centre will be recognised by the awards, as will community engagement, success in promoting Hull further afield and development of businesses and employees.
