Fashion retailers flock to St Stephen’s as an outstanding UK retail destination
10 May, 2013

On-trend clothing store, Internaçionale, is the latest retailer to join a string of high-profile brands to sign lettings at St Stephen’s – the UK’s Retail Destination of the Year.

The fashion retailer has signed for 6,338sq ft on a ten year lease and will open in the summer.

Internaçionale joins other leading brands including Boux Avenue, Superdry and Lipsy – that would traditionally have only opened in the UK’s major cities. However, St Stephen’s recently beat four other shopping centres in the highly-regarded Retail Week Awards to be crowned Retail Destination of the Year.

The recently rebranded Internaçionale is seeing rapid expansion and growth, with over 140 stores nationwide. The spacious and bright store in St Stephen’s will offer shoppers on-trend, high-quality clothing at an affordable price in a modern and bright environment.

Jim Harris, Centre Manager at St Stephen’s says: “We’re delighted to be bringing the new flagship unit to the city. We want to give our customers an excellent shopping and leisure experience and we have several new initiatives planned throughout the year to ensure that we continue to give Hull and East Riding shoppers everything they can get in other cities – and more!”

Earlier this year, St Stephen’s was recognised by retailers and the wider industry as an outstanding retail and leisure destination that has put Hull firmly back on the shopping map.

Speaking about the centre's Retail Week Awards success, Chris Brook-Carter, Editor in Chief of Retail Week, commented: "St Stephen's Shopping Centre has successfully helped to re-energise Hull bringing new retailers to the town and boosting footfall. Responding to the ever changing consumer, the centre has succeeded in delivering an experience to its customers and adapting its approach to help retailers deliver their multichannel strategy."

St Stephen's comprises more than 50 stores, 12 restaurants and cafes, a cinema and a 24 hour gym. The scheme has transformed Hull's retail and leisure provision and propelled it into the UK's top 20 retail centres. Retailers include Cult, Lipsy, Next, Superdry, TK Maxx, Topshop and Zara.
