This autumn, prepare to dive into the fascinating world of sharks as Dive Deeper returns for an evening of sharks, science and conservation.

Whether you're a marine enthusiast, conservation supporter, or just shark-curious, this relaxed evening offers something for everyone. Expect fascinating science, real-world impact, and inspiring stories — all in an informal setting with drinks flowing and minds diving deep!

Unveiling the 400-Year-Old Shark

Dr Cath Waller (University of Hull) and Dr Charlotte Hopkins (Senior Lecturer in Marine Conservation) kick off the evening with an extraordinary deep dive into the world of the Greenland shark — an elusive Arctic species known for its slow movement and astonishing lifespan, with individuals estimated to be over 400 years old.

Behind the Scenes: Shark Health at The Deep

Next, Graham Hill, Head of Animal Care at The Deep, takes us behind the scenes of one of the UK’s leading aquariums. Discover how his team pioneers the health and husbandry of sharks in captivity, including veterinary breakthroughs and behavioural enrichment.

Protecting the Ocean Wanderers

To close the evening, Paul Cox, CEO of The Shark Trust, presents the latest work from their Oceanics Programme — an ambitious global initiative focused on safeguarding wide-ranging oceanic shark species that are increasingly under threat from high seas overfishing.

Katy Duke, CEO The Deep said “We’re thrilled to welcome audiences back for another unforgettable Dive Deeper event. Sharks are some of the ocean’s most misunderstood and extraordinary creatures, and this evening is a chance to connect people with the science, the stories, and the conservation efforts that are shaping their future. It’s events like this that ignite curiosity and inspire action — and we’re proud to offer these events.”
