Bank Holiday Seaside Bonanza at St Stephens
23 August, 2010

From Saturday 28th August until Monday 30th St Stephen’s will be transformed into a summer seaside resort, so rain or shine Hull will become destination staycation! The Park Street end of the shopping centre (by Tesco and TK Maxx) will play host to a real sandy beach complete with buckets and spades and deck chairs to boot! With the opportunity for some sand castle building, St Stephen’s is sure to see Hull’s competitive beach-goers vying for the title of best sand sculpture!

Outside the Park Street Plaza end of the centre will be a 20 foot climbing wall, giving you plenty to keep the whole family entertained with activities to bring a bit of sunshine to the weekend. Putting some bounce into the bank holiday, St Stephen’s will be erecting bungee trampolines to get Hull jumping for joy and celebrating the holiday in style!

Face painters will be on hand throughout the weekend to bring some colour to the event, as well as art stations to keep the little ones entertained. All activities are free of charge so there’s no need to splash out for a superior staycation - there’s something for everyone!

City Centre Manager Kathryn Shillito said the initiative was excellent news for those people not going away for the bank holiday.

She said: “By bringing the beach to the people rather than the other way around, people will have the chance to both get an authentic seaside experience as well as doing some great value shopping in St Stephens.”
