Purple Tuesday returns to Princes Quay
Purple Tuesday returns to Princes Quay
05 November, 2019

Princes Quay will once again be turned purple in support of the UK’s accessible shopping day.

Purple Tuesday, which takes place on Tuesday 12 November, aims to increase awareness of the needs of disabled customers. For the second year running, Princes Quay will be encouraging their retailers to get involved and to think about opportunities to improve the customer experience for those with additional needs.

There will be a chat and chill purple zone on Outlet Level 3 and various retailers are encouraged to be involved. Shoppers are urged to support the initiative and there will be a special LED heart selfie area in the chat and chill zone.

On the day, there will be a ‘bat and chat’ area set up in the centre where customers can meet for a game of table tennis and a chat.

Purple Tuesday will also see Princes Quay promote a range of its retailers’ initiatives, including sessions at its Vue Cinema that are autism friendly or suitable for those who are hard of hearing. Superbowl UK Hull have lanes which are fully accessible for wheelchair users. Princes Quay also has mobility scooters and wheelchairs available for hire in the customer support unit. The customer support ambassadors will be on hand to help raise awareness and answer any questions visitors may have.

Shoppers will get the chance to play the Purple Tombola, that will feature prizes donated by retailers around the centre with all proceeds going to Andy’s Hospice and Cash For Kids. Disabled shoppers will be able to pre-register for disabled parking ahead of the event.

Centre Manager John Magee said: “After last year’s success, we’re really looking forward to painting the town purple. Purple Tuesday is an incredibly important initiative and here at Princes Quay, we’re always looking for ways in which the experience can be improved for all our customers.”

2C Bake House will be cooking up a storm with purple sweet treats and hot drinks available.

Shoppers are urged to look out for updates on the Princes Quay website over the coming days: www.princesquay.co.uk
