City centre businesses to join BeYOUty showcase at Bonus Arena
28 September, 2019

Fashion and health will dominate the Bonus Arena when businesses from throughout Hull city centre take the stage this weekend for the BeYOUty extravaganza.

Billed as a one-stop shop for fashion and beauty, the event will welcome people to shop, place orders, learn about products and treatments and book in with suppliers. It will bring together businesses working in fashion, health, wellbeing, hair, aesthetics, cosmetics, make-up, treatments and accessories.

The doors will open at 10am on Saturday 28 September and admission will be free of charge. Organisers are going for a party feel, with bars open all day and serving prosecco, gin, mocktails and snacks until 4pm.

Other partners in the event are Princes Quay Shopping Centre, Viking FM and HullBID and there will be an appearance by Love Island star Cally Beech. Cally will be representing her two brands – So Smile and Latona London – as well as talking about her international modelling career and giving beauty tips and advice in a Q&A session on the main stage hosted by Viking FM’s Alex and Ellie.

Laura Harrison, Conference and Event Sales Executive at the Bonus Arena, said: “We are delighted to be hosting this brand new event that will bring a wide range of beauty items and techniques all under one roof. Cally Beech has gone on to have huge success as a model and businesswoman since leaving Love Island and we are looking forward to hosting her at the show this weekend.”

Catherine Goble, HullBID Marketing & Events Co-ordinator, said a large area of the main floor of the Bonus Arena will be used to showcase independent HullBID businesses.

Catherine said: “This is a great way for city centre businesses to promote themselves seen by potential customers from the local area and much further afield. We’ve had a great response from businesses in the city centre and we’re looking forward to welcoming a big crowd to find out what’s hot in fashion, beauty, health and fitness and to take advantage of some fantastic offers.”

Sarah Smith, Marketing and Customer Services Manager at Princes Quay, said a number of stores from within the centre will be taking part in the event.

She added: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase brands and products that are available in Princes Quay, just across the road from the Bonus Arena, and to give our customers the opportunity to buy things that are usually only available out of town. It’s great that HullBID brings city centre businesses together to work in partnership on major events like this.”

Nicola Gibbons, owner of Tessies, said BeYOUty will further develop the new dimension which this business has been working on since moving to new premises on Humber Street in April.

She said: “It’s been a really positive move and we now have a much nicer space which has enabled us to grow our collections and have events in store, but BeYOUty will be the biggest thing we’ve been involved in.

“We got involved in it through HullBID and we’re really looking forward to it. We’ll be taking some of our favourite things from our autumn collection and we’ll have a 20-minute slot on the catwalk to show people how they can make fantastic outfits from what we have got. There’s a real buzz because we love to get involved in things like this.”

Michelle Shenton, owner and director of Hot Yoga, said business is booming since opening at the K2 in Bond Street in April 2018 and she expects to generate further interest when she brings something different to BeYOUty.

She said: “Usually this sort of business gets quiet in the summer but at the end of August we had our busiest week ever. People are starting to talk about the benefits of what we do.

“We get everybody coming in – any body shape or size. You are never too old, never too broke, never too sick to start from scratch. BeYOUty isn’t just about beauty and it’s more than just physical appearance. Beauty is on the inside and not just on the outside – we look at the feelings and how people are and we will be a bit different from the other businesses there.”

Tickets for BeYOUty are free and can be obtained in advance via www.bonusarena.com
