Hull BID Fashion Week takes shape

The centrepiece of the 3 day event from Thursday 29th April to Saturday 1st May will be the Unique Boutique marquee in Queen Victoria Square which will see independent retailers from Savile Street, Whitefriargate, Hepworth’s Arcade and Carr Lane given the opportunity to showcase their outfits via a professionally staged fashion catwalk. Featuring outfits for both women and men, there will be shows for lingerie, party dresses, designer retro, evening wear and much more. Also on hand on Friday and Saturday will be Viking FM’s Paul and Rosie from The Breakfast Show who will be hosting other entertainment in the seated marquee such as a dazzling light show, local singers and one of Hull’s best choreographed street dance acts.

The three main shopping centres have also given further details of their involvement. St Stephens will be hosting a Fashion Show Day on Thursday 29th April where the finalists of the Stylist of the Year competition will see their designs exhibited on the catwalk to decide who will walk away with the coveted title. Meanwhile The Prospect Shopping Centre will focussing on a beauty and makeover theme on Friday 30th April. The Mark Hill team will be giving hair analysis, advice and guidance while No.7, Clinique and Estée Lauder will be offering free mini makeovers.The following day will see the the fashion focus turned over to Princes Quay who will be running a series of themed fashion shows including bridalwear, holiday clothes, workwear and party time chic.

Major stores are also playing a part in the Week. Debenhams will behosting its Capsule Wardrobe sessions over the 3 days of the event and the Estée Lauder concession will be doing live makeovers in full public view. Marks & Spencer will be giving away free lingerie sets while House of Fraser will be using the event to launch its new look ground floor featuring new ladieswear brands Label Lab and Tommy Denim and menswear Fly 53, Linea and Lingwood.

City Centre Manager Kathryn Shillito commented the programme was progressing well.

She said: "We are working closely with our partners to finalise what is looking set to be a fantastic programme of events and which we are confident will inspire and thrill both visitors and those taking part."
