#LocallyYours campaign launches to promote Hull and East Yorkshire businesses
10 July, 2020

A new campaign is encouraging people to support their local businesses and tourist spots in Hull and East Yorkshire.

The #LocallyYours campaign will highlight some of the fantastic businesses and locations in our region.

Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism at Hull City Council, said: "We are fortunate to have so many fantastic places and businesses right on our doorstep, and nobody knows this better than the people who live in our region.

"Businesses have put a tremendous amount of effort into welcoming visitors back responsibly and in accordance with government advice. I urge everyone supporting and visiting our local beauty spots, attractions and businesses to listen to the guidance available to them whilst respecting fellow visitors and staff."

Councillor Shaun Horton, portfolio holder for tourism, culture and leisure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "We have over 1,800 businesses that operate within the visitor economy in Hull and East Yorkshire and the Visit Hull and East Yorkshire partnership are committed to helping our industry bounce back as quickly and as safely as possible."

Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) are inviting businesses to join the campaign and promote themselves through social media using a digital toolkit and the hashtag #LocallyYours

Visit Britain has also introduced ‘We’re Good To Go’, the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business is following Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines.

Any businesses can apply for the mark here.

Emma Kinton, from Hotham's Gin School & Distillery, said: "Hull has a great community of small, independent businesses, like ours, and we're proud to be a part of it.

"We're all just starting to get out and about a bit more after the last few months of staying home, and rediscovering what Hull has to offer is something we hope people are excited about.

"We often hear visitors to our Gin School and Distillery, both local and from further afield, say that Hull is home to so many hidden treasures, and it's great that the #LocallyYours campaign will be celebrating the best things to see and do in Hull and the wider region."
