HULL COMPANY WINS TOP PROFESSIONAL HONOUR AS DEADLINE LOOMS FOR AWARD-WINNING COURSES

A Hull company’s efforts to deliver high quality accounts training to businesses across the region have helped it land an award from a leading professional body.

Golding Computer Services, based in George Street, has been selected by the International Association of Book-keepers (IAB) as the top centre in the UK for delivering the Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Accounting for Business.

Vic Golding, Managing Director of Goldings, will receive the award at The House of Commons next month from Fabian Hamilton MP, Honorary President of the IAB.

Vic is hopeful the achievement will encourage more businesses to take up the opportunity offered by the courses before the cut-off point for subsidies which offer savings of up to 80 per cent.

Goldings offers the Sage/IAB courses over three levels and has already allocated more than £70,000 with the support of the Skills Enhancement Fund to train more than 150 people – many of them studying at home – from nearly 100 different organisations.

The company has managed to stretch the deadline for signing up to the courses to the end of April by committing to completing the training by the end of June, and there are still some places available.

Courses cover accountancy and other skills relevant to the day-to-day operation and management of any business. Participants use the latest Sage 50 software and can achieve nationally-recognised qualifications using assessment and tests rather than examinations.

“We recognise that the biggest obstacles facing business when it comes to training are cost and time,” said Vic.

“We devised these courses specifically to address those concerns, securing subsidies of up to 80 per cent and enabling trainees to learn in the workplace and at home.

“We are delighted that our success has now been recognised by the IAB. The courses have proved very popular with businesses and we hope that more will take the opportunity before the subsidies disappear at the end of April.”
