A Hull-based marketer has won a dream placement doing business 'down under' in Australia.

Esther Damary-Thompson, Media and Marketing Manager at East Yorkshire agency Forward And Thinking, has been successfully selected for one of only eight places on the prestigious international 'Mentor Me' work placement programme.

Backed by the Government of South Australia, the South Australian Tourism Commission and STA Travel, the world's largest student and youth travel company, 'Mentor Me' have offered the special eight winners with mentorships at eight prominent companies in the fields of tourism and hospitality, food and wine, events and entertainment.

Esther scooped the role at South Australian Tourism Commission as Destination Marketing and Events Co-ordinator, working in a fast paced, fun and friendly environment filled with hard working and passionate people.

Esther commented: 'When I got the phone call I was over the moon to hear that I out of a field of over 4,000 people I have been chosen as one of the 8 individuals who have been won the chance of a lifetime. To have the privilege of working alongside and learning from some incredible mentors at South Australia Tourism Commission is simply unbelievable and it is great timing for me to be an ambassador for Hull with it fast approaching its 2017 City of Culture year.'

This will give Esther the chance to spend a month working with the team committed to achieving AUD$8 billion in tourism expenditure by 2020. The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) promotes the State's exciting and diverse attractions both within Australia and internationally.

UK marketing manager of the South Australian Tourism Commission, Janice Kurrle, said: "We were hugely impressed by the level of interest in the Mentor Me programme, as well as the quality and calibre applicants.

"We could easily have filled each position many times over, so to scoop this opportunity is a huge achievement."

A spokesperson from Forward And Thinking, said: "This is a very exciting time for both Esther and Forward And Thinking. We are passionate about the region and whether doing business in Hull, London or Australia, we know where our heart is and spreading the message 'down under' while learning new skills is a great coup for us all".
