New concept gym to open at St Stephens
New concept gym to open at St Stephens
29 April, 2010

“Hull doesn’t have a 24 hour gym, so opening up around the clock means that you can use the club at any time, train at your own pace and not feel rushed. You can fit your training around your lifestyle rather than around the opening times of the gym,” says FIT24 Sales Advisor Paul Dunn.

The gym, which is on the first floor of St Stephens close to Starbucks and Nandos, features 120 individual stations of the latest designs, including treadmills, resistance machines and cross trainers, many of which will be fitted with innovative energy saving devices which are only activated when in use and use the energy produced by the person exercising to power the machine. It also has an extensive free weights section, exercise mats, a self service café area and a separate relaxation room which will feature a sauna, steam room and ice shower. Classes will also be available in the standard membership price and these will include pilates, yoga, dance and even zumba, a fusion of Latin and international music workout.

The real surprise is the price for membership which at just £14.99 a month is, according to Paul Dunn, extremely rewarding.

"The value for money we’re offering is probably better than anything else on the market at present," he says.

Paul has been promoting the gym and its membership since February via radio and newspapers and says that already 1100 people have signed up.

"It’s been really popular so far and seems to be exactly what people want. Also the fact that at St Stephens you’ve got a whole host of facilities means people can come to the gym as well as doing other things such as getting their hair cut, eating, shopping or taking the kids to the play area or dropping off at the Creche due to open this summer."

Paul says that he’s looking forward to opening the gym and says that his own background as a personal trainer will help his work.

"I used to be a fitness coach at Huddersfield Town and Bradford City for 4 years and part of my role there involved running the gym, an area I developed and grew interested in, so this opening is a fantastic opportunity for me."
