Improve safety and security within the City Centre
The fear of crime and a sense of feeling unsafe can have a greater affect than the reality of crime. The BID proposes a series of activities to make people feel safer within the City Centre. Higher visibility policing will be achieved through the following:
• Retain and expand the highly effective Ambassador team that helps to patrol the City Centre. In addition to helping to prevent crime, the Ambassadors give crime reduction advice to small businesses, act as meeters and greeters to visitors at the train station and fast track maintenance to the Council.
• Co-ordinated use of the Police, PCSO’s and Ambassadors to improve safety in the city centre.
• Ambassadors linked to the Police, CCTV and Retail Crime radio system.
• Higher visibility policing of the City Centre
