Signage and Access

Recently the Hull BID team removed some tree branches that were obscuring our store sign.”– Emma Shaw, Store Manager, Debenhams.

Hull BID is flying the flag for the city centre in more ways than one.

Signs, maps and banners have all been produced to help attract people to the city centre, show them what’s going on and direct them to the big events.

In addition to the signs provided by the City Council, Hull BID has installed “Welcome to Hull” signs and better directions – including 3D map dispensers - to help visitors find tourist attractions and essentials including car parks, disabled services, toilets and baby-changing facilities.

We’re also busy brightening up empty shop units, working with property agents and owners to put eye-catching graphic designs onto bare walls and windows.

It’s all part of our effort to attract people into our city centre and to look after them when they arrive here and on top of that we also help to count how many people there are. Hull BID funded the installation and running costs of six footfall counters within the city centre. This enables us to monitor footfall, identify trends and patterns in pedestrian traffic, and compare the figures for our city to those of other centres and the rest of the country as a whole. It also enables us to gauge the success of city centre events.
