Evening Economy
“Dine Week went very well. A lot of the customers were regulars who wanted to make the most of the discount but we did get some new customers as well.” – Tony Cerutti, Owner, Ceruttis.
Hull BID is dedicated to improving the city centre’s evening economy by encouraging more people to sample the night life.
Our evening economy campaign is linked to our other activities – people are more likely to visit a city centre that is clean, safe and secure – but is also designed to create and support exciting activities that pull people into the city.
In March of this year, Hull BID produced a glossy dine brochure, aptly named 'Eat Drink Enjoy' to profile city centre cafe bars and restaurants. The brochure was a direct result of research which indicated people felt safe coming into the city on an evening but were unsure of what was available.
20,000 copies were distributed via the participating venues, the Tourist Information Centre, retailers and designated door drops. Feedback has been positive from operators who were delighted with the finished result but importantly they hope to see an increase in covers.
The brochure links in directly with www.eatdrinkenjoy.co.uk, a virtual online gateway to the city centre's dining, leisure and entertainment offering where fantastic offers and discounts can be found.
Hull BID is also a proud sponsor of the Hull Comedy Festival which draws thousands of visitors into the city. In 2011 many of the venues will be within the Hull BID area drawing in valuable 'spend per head' in our eating and drinking establishments.
A new event introduced during 2010 was 'Half Past the Weekend' which involved Hull BID working with city centre partners and businesses to bring live music to venues alongside Princes Quay and the Old Town. In April 2011 Half Past the Weekend recommenced, encouraging continental style al fresco dining in specially constructed outdoor eating areas adjacent to the tranquil waterside.
