Hull BID Starts Tweeting

05.03.2010

You’ve seen them walking around, visiting shops and liasing with the local police, but do you really know what the Hull BID Support Officers John Hakes and Phil Overfield really do?

For those who can’t answer with a clear positive, help is at hand as the BID starts its own Twitter feed. Support Officer Phil Overfield has recently started his own page on Twitter, explaining on a regular basis what he and John do on a daily basis.

“Many businesses in the city centre already know and appreciate the work that John and I do in terms of liasing with traders, sharing intelligence with the police and generally being the eyes and ears of Hull BID in the city centre, but there are still some businesses who don’t and it is for those people that we have decided to start this tweet.”

The tweet can be found at
www.twitter.com and under Phil’s name: Hullbidphil. Currently Phil just has a few followers but he says he will try to do it on a daily basis and see how it develops.

“It’s only a short tweet to let people know what we’ve been up to and doesn’t take very long to do, but it will be interesting to see if people find it useful.”

Phil added that as the service develops he can see other advantages with using it.

“I’d also like to use it as a tool to make people aware of some of the security issues in a particular part of the centre so people can be forewarned to some extent, or maybe to highlight an event such as the Farmer’s Markets which are going on in the centre. The possibilities to communicate what the BID is doing are quite exciting!”
